Please help CRASAC and Coventry Haven support vulnerable women in the city.
Walking has become a solo feature of my lockdown(s) and I have been documenting my routes with photos and steps!
Sadly during the Covid crisis some women cannot have that simple pandemic freedom whilst in abusive relationships so I wanted to help in a material way as well as the wider issues around women's safety. We all need to do better in the 21st century so hopefully raising some funds is a good start to support vulnerable women in Coventry.
A Coventry Way instantly sprang to mind as a route to follow. Taking in the Warwickshire countryside cannot be a bad way to spend a day in June - although 12 hours of it might be draining!
It is a 40 mile circular route around the city taking in villages such as Ryton, Bubbenhall, Ansty and Corley and towns like Kenilworth and Bedworth. There is usually a group challenge once a year but I want to tackle it on my own.
I will document each place with a photo and hope to have 40 photos available for sale - also for charity - once complete!
I will do it in 1 day around summer solstice to maximise light and to make the most of my title - a summer solstice saunter!
Your money will be split between CRASAC and Coventry Haven.
CRASAC is a Rape Crisis Centre which provides specialist support to all those who have experienced sexual violence.
Coventry Haven help women and their children who have been or are being subjected to, domestic abuse in any form to free themselves from the situation they are in.
